Hi, Whenever I try and start Far Cry 4, it freezes and crashes to desktop with a 'Far Cry 4 has Stopped Working' message during the first loading screen.I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 on a more-than-capable machine.I don't have any game controllers attached and have disabled any HID devices/virtual drives that might be forcing a crash.I've uninstalled Razer's software for my keyboard and mouse and have verified the game cache a couple of times.I've tried removing the patch files to no effect whatsoever. Any help is appreciated greatly! Unfortunately I have no idea how to switch Uplay accounts for the forum since it's auto-logging me in as my old account.
I just wanted to also comment and say that I'm also having this problem, and help this problem get noticed. I don't have MSI Afterburner, so I'm seriously doubting that Afterburner is the root cause for this. It's pretty damn discouraging that they've already patched the game, and they haven't addressed this issue. What I did find interesting was that another person that has the problem uses the exact same CPU and GPU as I do. I'm using an r9 290x and an i7 3770K. Same issue here, i7 2600K, GTX 670 though.(Additionally, 16GB RAM, and Win 8.1 Ent and more than 2TB free on the disk it's installed on.) Had Afterburner installed years ago, but I had uninstalled it, just in case, installed and remove it again, I've also turned off Shadowplay and checked I'm running the latest drivers at this time.
(344.65) No Logitech hardware and I've removed everything else AFAIK and I'm not really running anything out of the ordinary on my machine, startup's fairly light in terms of services. I am experiencing the very same problem. I5 with an GTX 970. Game crashes upon startup. I see a black screen, with a white bar at the bottom. Looks like its trying to install or load something. Bar progresses about 2 thirds and then game crashes.
Its doing this in WINDOWED mode for some odd reason. Updated with latest NVIDIA drivers. Any thoughts? I have not been able to load this game as it crashes during the load of the first load screen every single time. I've tried pretty much everything to resolve it (New drivers, Removing usb devices, reinstalling the game, repairing the game). I have an i5 2500k with an AMD R9 290 GPU.
I'm installing this on a completely fresh installation of windows so I was hoping this would mean I would have very few problems, how wrong was I? Missing dlls, corrupt files and now I can't even get past the splash screen and a few colourful dots. Missing dlls were solved by downloading the correct file from Microsoft because the.Net installer in the FC4 installer doesn't download the correct files. The corrupt files were solved by verifying the game and redownloading 394 MB. I finally get the game to launch and boom it crashes almost instantly. I tried restarting, double checked all windows updates had been applied, played around with numerous graphics card settings, disabled stuff and no joy.
Thought I'd try verifying the files again, not expecting anything and now it says it needs to redownload 13,928 MB of corrupted files. That's where I am now, waiting for half the game to redownload. How can it be such a rigmarole to install and play 1 game on a completely fresh OS? She made several statements on several threads a few hours ago. The question is, how long is 'soon'?
Well, we now know that it is more then a few hours. Will it now be a few more hours from this point, or maybe a few days more? This is the question. Judging from the performance of Ubisoft in recent months, I would not be surprised if it is the latter. But, I am MORE then happy to be proven wrong. I can't believe a single-player AAA of the shelf game has made customers wait for nearly 2 days to play a game that they paid premium retail for.
I am flabergasted. These issues are what you expect from MMO's, not single player games! I had the same problem, but managed to fix it by completely uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it. The first time I installed the game, it would launch but give the 'Far Cry 4 has stopped working' error on the first loading screen. I tried the 'Verify files' option in UPlay, which claimed some files were corrupted. Repairing them involved downloading the whole 30GB download again.
This did not work, the error still came up when launching the game, when verifying again there were still corrupted files. It also seemed the day one patch did not install for some reason. Uninstalling the game through the UPlay client and then reinstalling it apparently did the trick.
If you download and install the game through UPlay now, it seems you automatically download version 1.3.0 without having to patch it after install. I hope this helps for some people. Uninstalling and reinstalling seems like an obvious thing to try, but I thought maybe a lot of people may hesitate trying this because of the large download. I reinstalled the whole game last night after verifying/repairing four times, do I really have to do it again?:(. Exact same problem as the rest, Gets to the Kyrat loading screen and gets 3/4 through the progress bar then crashes.
Below is my setup, I have re-installed twice now, 38gb download x 2 is not pretty in Australia Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i7 4820K @ 3.70GHz RAM 32.0GB DDR3 @ 667MHz (9-9-9-24) Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. I'm in the same boat as you guys. I have downloaded and reinstalled the game twice and reverified the game cache multiple times, downloading roughly 600 mb then 13gb and then 600 mb and so on and so forth. I disabled all HIDs and removed anything resembling a controller support progrma (ds3) and yet I've had no luck whatsoever. Very frustrating and just stupid that after months of development they can't get a game to run for a large portion of their gamers on day of release, especially with multiple patches being released with it.
Also have DX, vcredist, and.net reinstalled directly from their websites and latest intel/nvidia drivers installed today. Still nothing helps. Windows 7 / I-5 intel processor / gtx 680 4gb / 8gb ram Next time ubisoft releases a game, i'm just going to torrent it and wait til its in working condition after its released and then i'll decide if they deserve my money or not. Annoying how i paid for the game yet i can't play it, but a friend of mine who torrented it and played it over the weekend without any issues whatsoever and before the game was even released. Go ubisoft for encouraging its consumers to torrent games instead of buying them. I was crashing with Fault Module FC64.dll until I followed a previous poster's advice. Uninstall, delete Far Cry 4 under My Documents/My Games, make sure it fully deleted in your games folder within UPLAY folder.
Close Uplay, right click uplay, run as administrator. Download the game. Before installing, verify game files, install, play. Now im crashing with this module after prologue: MSVCR100.dll. I tried to change my graphic card settings to default no good,i tried to disable all i could on my pc to free up ram no good (i've 8gb),I verified my files 3 time now and the damm thing is downloading 13936mb again for the third time. Is so frustrating i have barely 2 mb broadband and it took 3 days to pre load and these files i have to download take 3/4 of a day, what a joke, i'm not happy ubisoft are poor at replying at the best of times, they only seem to read the first line and don't address all you issues. My game loads the first screen with the moving flakes of colour and at 3/4 freezes and that it.
I7 4790k, asus z97 extreme 6 motherboard, 8gb gskills 2400mhz ram, evo 250 gb ssd with 50 gb free, and a msi gaming gtx 970. It won't help probably. They did not reply to me since yesterday morning. jeah i also asked the support, they still did not answered me. 3 days since release and were still not able to play the game.this is not acceptable.
I try a last thing, after download the game 5 times, i wont download it another time from ubisoft.A friend of me gave me his steam account, i now download the files from steam servers, and hope that this is maybe the problem, corrupt files from ubisoft servers. I really wonder, because in steam the download size is 21 GB and in uplay it is 31 GB.
But well i give it a chance. After this i have no hope to play the game the next weeks. I will never preorder a game from ubisoft again.this is frustrating. Was having the same problem, tried to launch the game and the application stopped responding right after the Far Cry 4 launch splash screen. For clarity, this is what my screen looked like at crash: I uninstalled, reinstalled, unplugged my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick, and switched my Logitech G700s from wireless to wired operation.
The application launched perfectly on the next attempt. Unfortunately, I'm unsure whether the reinstallation or the peripherals was the cause of the fix. Hey guy, I have some solution it work for me first I completed download the game and I start game, It's stop working on loading new game So I go to UPLAY and click Verify File,It will check local game file on my computer and after check its found some issue and ask me to repair.
Then I click repair file and when completed repair file I try start game and it work, when I start new game it not stop working and I go to enjoy the game. I hope that will be help someone Thanks a lot. This worked for me.:D. This is not a fix. You telling me after 3 and a half days downloading this program with my crappy 1.8mb at best brodband ( thanks eircom for crap broadband in a day of fiber wire), so i have to uninstall it and wait 3 and half days again to reinstall it and no real guarantee it will work, uplay are having a laugh, shame on them i won't ever be buying a product off them again and every one in the same boat should make a stand and no use a poor retailer like uplay, people together have the power one has none, we can make the difference, vote for who agrees just post you agree.lets make a storm. So, guys, i tried everything anybody suggested, verifying games files, unplugging and uninstalling USB stuff and i got another solution! And i can't promise this fix will work for anybody, but it seems like most of the Crashes to desktop (a.k.a) FC4.dll errors are caused by an actually broken FC4.dll I'm not sure why no one at ubisoft ever got this idea, but their loader is a piece of crap and wont find the error itself! So just delete the FC4.dll, let uplay verify the files again (and it will only download the fc4.dll, not the whole game).
This will actually fix the FC4.dll that might have been broken from the beginning or got broken during their update routine or whatever. Enjoy the game, hope it works for you now!
Hi All I urge everyone to try this, as it resolved the issue for me (I just couldnt get past the load screen for SP, error 'Far Cry 4 has stopped working') Step1: Go into the Far Cry 4 bin folder and manually delete the FC64.dll file Step 2: in Uplay, perform a 'Verify Files' (Found in the dropdown menu in uPlay next to 'Play'). I guess verifying files in Steam will do the same thing Step 3: After uPlay scans all the files it will start downloading the missing files. THis can be anywhere between 30Mb and 10Gb. I was lucky and it only re-downloaded 200Mb or so Step 4: Relaunch game and play I found which file to delete by viewing the appcrash report. So instead of closing it, view the details and it will refer to a file which is causing the farcry4.exe file to crash. I'm going to take a punt on this one and assume it will be the same DLL file for everyone (Did Ubisoft push out a corrupt version of this at one point)? This explains why completely uninstalling/reinstalling fixes the issue for some people as they will be getting fresh versions of this file Let me know how you all go -edit - Sorry peeps, should have read the previous posts before posting.looks like its already been posted a few times lol I just hit reply from the 1st page, as I was excited to share my findings.

TO ALL FC4 CRASHERS, THIS WORKS!!!! To the people that figured this out and then took the time to post it for the rest of us - THANK YOU!!!
I just deleted my FC4.dll, checked for errors, re-d/l like 10-15mb of data and got the game to work. As stated it would be nice if the community managers could share this as well as anybody else. Tell the people in the forums you've been to, that didn't have the solution, how to fix it, share the love so anybody can play. Like ubisoft would actually be supposed to do.
Like in a new FAQ section. Scumbags:nonchalance: For Ubi to post this fix, it would be admitting that they pushed out corrupt files in uPlay (and the file verification in uplay is busted). Doesn't surprise me at all that they have stayed silent on it, and just replied with generic responses such as 'We're working on it' etc.
It’s fair to say that this is “a solution”, or “a fix”, as it solves the problem for some people. However, it is not “the solution” or “the fix” for everyone, as the problem still remains for many other people. I too have been unable to play Far Cry 4 because I can’t get past the black screen.
With much anticipation, I tried the solution provided in this thread. Unfortunately, it made no difference. I don’t blame UbiSoft for not posting this as the solution for the problem, as it doesn’t fix the problem for everyone. They need to ensure that their (eventual) solution or patch will fix most problems for most people, not just a few. Although it has been suggested, I’m not prepared to unplug peripherals that work perfectly well with every other program and game on my system.
I will try any reasonable solution offered on the forums, but if I have to wait for UbiSoft to release a proper fix for the problem, then so be it. It’s just a game, after all. I too have been unable to play Far Cry 4 because I can’t get past the black screen. With much anticipation, I tried the solution provided in this thread. Unfortunately, it made no difference.
The Solution posted in here, is not the fix for the black screen. Driver updates and uninstalling the USB Hardware have been the workaround for the blackscreen fix. The 'delete FC4.dll' fix is doing its job for the crash to desktop / has stopped working /FC4.dll error that occurs during starting a new campaign (during the loading screen to be specific). And even with this being just a workaround and this really might only help a few people, I still expect Ubisoft to share this workaround in a FAQ like system if they have that many bugs (especially with the not-answering support).
So many people could already play this game, if only there was one page where fixes for the bugs are listed. But they are not only spread out over the ubisoft forum, most of them are not even once noted in the ubisoft forums. I have seen more constructive posting on reddit over those fixes than on the official forums.
Kinda shows how much Work Ubisoft is putting into the customer-relationship. Also, Ubisoft should stop their premature release strategy. Gamers are like girls in that regard, if you need too long, its. If you 'release' premature, its even worse.
Way to destroy a (customer)-relationship. Tanks it's work for me!!!!!:). Hey guys, i also had this Problem and i tried 5 days to fix it. Unplugging usb devices, new drivers, stopped the aero, checked the files w uplay etc. 'Far cry 4 stopped working' After the start of the new game.
That's what fixed my problem: Move to the Far Cry 4 folders and search for the 'fc64.dll' - delete it. I think the error only appears on 64-bit windows versions. After that check the files with uplay (i tried that a couple days ago 3 times - without deleting the.dll, didn't work) I loaded the 9 gb and it worked just fine, no problem and i finished the prolog. Also i don't have any problems with the shadows, mouse control, fps crashes etc, i play that game on ultra with stable fps. My Hardware: EVGA (Nvidia) gtx 580 3GB Intel i5 3570K 3,4GHz 8 GB RAM Hope it works for you guys, it frustrated me really bad. Have a nice day, TheSpeeeeD.Edit. I just saw that someone shared that information already.
Just in case you didn't read it. I also encountered the problem, but i was able to play the game for 26 hours before and now it doesn't work anymore.
The following procedures were not helpful, though: - Re-installing the game or uplay - Verifying game files - Deleting the FC64.dll or farcry4.exe and then verify - unplug all USB devices The error message howerver changed if i remember correctly, now it refers to farcry4.exe and a BEX64 error. The latter error message seems to occur with other applications, too but I wasn't able to solve the problem with any soluition suggested throughout some forums. It would be nice to hear from ubi support if the problem is known or will be investigated.

If, it the same problem I had, where I ran it once, it crashed, and I couldn't get to the main menu (crashed when it started loading my profile) I fixed it by deleting my old far cry folder. Go to Documents my games Far Cry 4 and go into that folder with who knows how many number, and delete the two files in there. Hope this helps. Hello guys, this is the 3:rd place i am posting this but i suppose this is 'the most' accurate one. So this morning (approx.
4h ago) i started my comp as usually and logged into steam (bought far cry4 from steam) and i get an update to far cry4. The update didn't take long so i suppose not a big thing they updated, however. Now that i start the game it crashes instantly upon start. I have about 14h gameplay on this so far and i've not had any problems before on this game, until now. Specs: win 7 sp1 nvidia geforce gtx 970 4gb intelcore i3-3250 @3.50 GHz 8gb ram 240 gb ssd corsair asus p8 H77-V LE corsair 650w p.s I read that the msi afterburner could cause this but im pretty unsure since i've had it on my comp from the beginning and the game crashed/s after the update so highly unlikely its anything else.
This worked for me. DELETE 'HIDInputRemapper' in Documents/My Games/Far Cry 4/ Edit:: Nvm, game broke for me again, but this worked the first time. DO NOT CHANGE from windowed to fullscreen, or back. Us alt-enter if you need to switch. As far as I can tell it some bug or another. Don't know what is the problem.
I had it happen twice, both times were after I changed the windowed mode. Might happen when you change resolutions as well. Didn't want to mess with it to find out.
You can change the graphics option, just try not to mess with the windowed or resolution. I think it's screwed up that I can't play in windowed mode, but whatever. Hope someone from ubisoft is reading these.
After reading how you all have tried so many things to 'fix' the problem, the same problem for almost all of us, the only thing that we all have in common is we installed a Patch. I played for almost 60 hours in the last week, and kept ignoring the install latest patch message as it was large enough that our crappy internet would have seen a download of several hours. I played in Offline mode the whole 60+ hours with no problem. Finally installed patch, and for 20 minutes played lag free for the first time. Then the black screen and FarCry4.exe error.
No matter what support may say, it is nothing to do with our systems/setups or peripherals or drivers. We all applied a patch, we all now have the same problem. IT IS THE PATCH!! And Ubisoft must rectify this problem, not us. Legally speaking, I pay for a product, it must be fixed or money refunded. All within a reasonable time frame. I would respect Ubisoft at least a little bit more if they did not try to put the blame on us or our systems.
IT IS THE PATCH!! Just got Far Cry 4 for christmas, and it's been working perfectly, right up until a couple days ago.
Seemingly out of the blue, it started crashing immediately upon startup. I would click play on steam/uplay, and it wouldn't even display the splash screen (black square with far cry 4 written in the middle) before it crashed. I've tried verifying the game cache on steam, and re-installing it (twice). I've also tried unplugging the 360 controller I have connected, restarting steam, uplay, and my computer, updating graphics and razer drivers, directX, c (all of which are up-to-date already) - nothing works.
It's like my computer has broken its programming and is just trying to annoy me. I would try to see if my other uplay games are doing this, but none of them are installed. Here's my setup: Motherboard - ASUS P8H77-V LE RAM - 8gb GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 660 (3gb) CPU - Intel i5 3570K PSU - 850w Thermaltake Smart M-series Peripherals: - Razer Tiamat 7.1 (headset) - Razer Mamba (mouse) - Razer BlackWidow (keyboard) - Acer H236HL (monitor) (connected w/ HDMI) - HP L1750 (monitor 2) (connected w/ VGA/DVI). Just got Far Cry 4 for christmas, and it's been working perfectly, right up until a couple days ago. Seemingly out of the blue, it started crashing immediately upon startup. There was supposed to be a 1.6 patch distributed on 12/30, but I never seen my game update. Perhaps it was on 12/24 or 12/25?
Anyway, I think the patch bugged you! I have the same problem: FC64.dll File corrupted! I have been playing Far Cry 3 on my computer for years. On 12/25/14 I installed Far Cry 4 in the following directory, right beside Far Cry 3: D: Games while Uplay was active. Then after the install exited properly, I entered the two keycodes in Uplay, beginning with the main game keycode. Then Uplay found an update, and downloaded it (I had to restart it because it said the Internet connection was interrupted). But after it got done, when I tried to run Far Cry 4 I got the following error message: - FC64.dll - File corrupted!
This program has been manipulated and maybe it's infected by a Virus or cracked. This file won't work anymore.

OK - Then after I pressed OK: - FarCry4.exe - Application Error - The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application. OK - Then I went into Norton (360 Premier Edition), and made a SONAR exception for the D: Games Far Cry 4 entire folder and subfolders.
The Uplay game launcher directory already had a SONAR exception for it. It didn't help. So then I tried the 'verify' function in Uplay, it said it found bad files and would download them, and I said OK. After it did that, I was given the 'Play' button again, and the same problem happened.
I rebooted the computer, and the same thing happened. So I checked the default game install directory in Uplay, and it was: D: Games Ubisoft Game Launcher So I changed it to: D: Games But I still have the same problem, even after I tried the 'verify' function again. I can't play my new game. My computer easily passes all the minimum requirements, and like I said, I've been playing Far Cry 3 on it for years. Let me tell you all a secret about Ubisoft, they gave up a long time ago when they sold their souls to the illuminati video game industry.
There is a fix but ubisoft won't let you, only because they do it on purpose. They don't want anyone making a massive map or a decent looking map better then the map they through at us in campaign mode. I know the truth behind the map editors, they're all broken for a reason, ubisoft will not admit to this because it's true. I'm done with you ubisoft, I had enough of your.
and so has everyone else, next time I am passing up on future next gen games, you can all go. yourselves or die either one works for me. Mental illness is a terrible thing.
Black screen can be various issues with YOUR PC and what you have running in the background my advise go to your task bar exit out of any of the following Riva tuner Msi Afterburner Evga Precision Dxtory again anything else you do not need loaded to get the game to launch go in windows taskbar AND SELECT exit.then try your game controllers. This is ridiculous, this is such a great game but like everyone else my game crashes every 15 minutes. Sometimes I even have to restart my pc just to be able to run it again. It's not a hardware problem because if 16gbs of ram on a 4770k beside a gtx980 cant run this game then I have no faith left in Ubisoft. And it can't be whats running in the background because I never have any of the mentioned software running. Why the heck should I have to watch what I have running in the background just to play a game anyway?
I have tried online as well as offline and even turning off in-game overlay. Maybe this is why these games are offered as a coupon code, although mine came from a client I built a pc for who didn't want it, maybe now I see why. FATAL ERROR - File system failure: Aborting execution. 'd: games farcry 4 datawin32 engine shaders materialdescriptors ai nt.xml' - OK - Did verify files, patched, then: 'Far Cry 4 has stopped working' Windows notification. I had this same issue after first installing Far Cry 4 through UPlay. I tried a few of the suggestions here, but it kept crashing on startup, so I gave up.
I went back to playing Battlefield, but now it was crashing in the same manner. Before I installed UPlay, Battlefield ran with no issues. So, I figured UPlay.ed something up during its installation process. I rebooted and checked my video drivers to find them out of date. After downloading the latest driver from nVidia and installing them, both games now run without issue. I'm aware that this is an obvious solution, but for some reason after reading this thread I was convinced it was irrelevant. Also,.
UPlay for making me troubleshoot. So, I finally got the game to launch by downgrading my graphics drivers, but now it just crashes as soon as I try to start a campaign.
It feels like every time I solve one problem there's another one around the corner. I Removed And Reinstalled The Game 3 Times. It Works On Some Online Maps But When I Try To Start Up The Campaign It Freezes And Says 'Far Cry 4 Has Stopped Working'. Its Really Annoying Me Now Because I Paid $78 For This Game That Doesn't Even Work. Never Buying Another Product By Ubisoft Ever Again. When I Found A Map That Actually Looked Decent It Said 'Far Cry 4 Has Stopped Working'. I Removed And Reinstalled The Game 3 Times.

I Just Unplugged My USB Wi-Fi Thing And Replaced It With And On-Board Wi-Fi Thing. Works Fine Now. I have the same problem: FC64.dll File corrupted! I can't play my new game. snip Uninstalling and reinstalling solved my problem. This time immediately after installing from DVD, I: 1. Started Uplay.
Far Cry 4 was already registered and shown on the games menu, so I switched into offline mode. Started Far Cry 4 and played single player campaign to a checkpoint save, then exited the game. Switched Uplay to online mode. Pressed 'play' and let it download the patches. Started Far Cry 4, and it seems to work fine (2/5/15).
I don't know if this exact routine had any effect on the outcome, but there it is for those who need to try FYI. I did this just before the 1.8 patch (which was pushed 2/3 or 2/4). I did a (binary) file comparison, to the saved directory from the previous bugged install, and found these files to be different: bin IGE.WPF.Core64.dll bin NvGsa.x64.dll datawin32 worlds common.fat There were other files that were different, but they were 'license' files and readme text (and one foreign language file) so they had no effect on the game's stability. And so obviously fc64.dll was not bugged, as it is the same in the working version. Obviously the 'verify' function in Uplay was not catching any of the above corrupt files (in my previous install).
